Who we are
TheoryDrive.UK ("we", "us", "our") is an independent revision website for the UK driving theory test. We are not affiliated with the DVSA. For any privacy questions, contact us at hello@theorydrive.uk.
What data we collect
- Local progress data: your mock test scores and answers are saved in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device.
- Server logs: our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. Retained for up to 30 days.
- Analytics (optional): if you accept analytics cookies, we use aggregated, anonymised page-view data to understand which content is useful. No personally identifying profile is built.
- Advertising (optional): if you accept advertising cookies, third parties such as Google AdSense may set cookies to show relevant ads and measure performance.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Consent for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw it any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
- Legitimate interests for essential security logging and keeping the site available.
Cookies
We use three categories of cookies and similar storage:
- Strictly necessary — remembers your cookie choice and stores your local quiz progress. Always on; no consent required.
- Analytics — only loaded if you accept. Helps us see which pages and questions are most used.
- Advertising — only loaded if you accept. Used by Google AdSense and partners to show and measure ads.
You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer.
Third parties
We may use: Cloudflare (hosting/CDN), Google Fonts (typography), Google Analytics (only with consent), and Google AdSense (only with consent). These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. Because we don't hold accounts, most personal data we process is automatic server-log data.
Children
The site is suitable for learner drivers aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
